Today, I have been mostly…
sleeping.
Well I managed to survive my ‘day trip’ to Leeds for work … just!
I left Weston at 1:45am last night and arrived there just before 6am. I’ve gotta say it’s not the easiest route to follow. It seems simply written down, Weston super Mare => M5 => M42 => A42 => M1 => Leeds. But in the early hours of the morning with no real sleep since Friday, it gets a bit messy
I managed to fix the server in three hours after a ‘bit’ of hassle ( I took a replacement server and a backup incase of any problems, and both failed! Even though they worked when I tested them the night before! Luckily I could hack one of them and get it working. ) and then I headed back on the 250 mile journey home.
I’m never travelling that far during half term ever again! It took me over 5 hours to get back. Baring in mind the lack of sleep it was quite a dodgy journey. I did stop off once for about 30 mins to get some food ( 7 pounds for a breakfast?! - charged to the company of course tho
) but even that didn’t help much. I was so glad to get home in one piece!
I still feel rough after 8 hours sleep, could do with a day off to get back into the swing of things. Though I’m sure I’ll feel better by the morning.
On that note. Nite all. ![]()
Last night I managed about 2 hours sleep after getting carried away with a little program to index my MP3’s.
It wouldn’t have been too bad as I was just going to have an early night tonight to catch up….. but due to a major cock up at work, I have been asked to drive to Leeds tomorrow and install a server to keep the customer happy!
This would be fine, but I’ve got to be there at 6am! And that means leaving Weston at 2am!

Well at least half of my blog is now looking like it used to. If anyone has a copy of it anywhere and has my funky stone wall background, then please do email it to me! It’s gotta be worth a free pint
I’ve also added a load of smileys to stitching bastards and should be putting them onto here soon, so you can all look forward to a more colourful and friendly blog. Oh yes!
… Now that spring is in the air
When those two wet gits, with their girly curly hair
Make another song, for marronic holidays
That nausiate-ate-ates in a million different ways
From the shores of Spain, to the coast of southern France
No matter where you hide, you just can’t escape this dance
Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deck-chair up your nose
Buy a Jumbo-Jet, and then bury all your clothes
Paint your left knee green, then extract your wisdom teeth
Form a string quartet, and pretend your name is Keith.
Skin yourself alive, learn to speak araphahoe
Climb inside a dog, and behead an Eskimo
Eat a Renault 4, wear salami in your ears
Cassarole your gran, dis-embowel yourself with spears
The disco is migrating, the sound is loud and grating
It’s truly nausiating - let’s do the dance again..
Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deck-chair up your nose
Buy a Jumbo-Jet, and then bury all your clothes
Yes you’ll hear this song, in the holiday discos
And there’s no escape, in the clubs or in the bars
You would hear this song, if you holidayed in Mars
Skin yourself alive, learn to speak araphahoe
Climb inside a dog, and behead an Eskimo
Now you’ve heard it once, your brain will spring a leak
And though you hate this song you’ll be humming it for weeks
Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deck-chair up your nose
Buy a Jumbo-Jet, and then bury all your clothes
La la la la la la la….
Ay - we had a laugh!
Yet again I lost another hard disk on Catbert, which meant I lost all my websites and programs.
Luckily a day before that I had written a backup script and had tested it by backing up the databases and the www.stitchingbastards.co.uk template! Unfortunately I lost my blog design and all my scripts.
The problem seems to be that the batch of four hard disks I got only last about 6 months before burning out! I’m not sure how long this one will last but I intend to buy a huge 120gb or 160gb one next month and work on some very intensive backup programs.
*Donations more than welcome*
Well its been a busy few days at work and home, and I’m hoping to have some peace soon, by Saturday, fingers crossed. Then I’ll have to go out for a ‘few’ drinks and relax, hopefuly with some good company!
Tonight was also the last night at Scouts till September, so we took them to Sand Bay for a BBQ and games on the beach… luckily the weather held out till we were leaving, although it was damn windy. It ended differently to how I expected though as they manage to invest me! So now I am an official Scout Leader! …. so much responsibility… the fools
Well that’s it for now, I’ve got some more stuff I need to do before I turn in for the night / morning, so I’ll catch you all soon.
( If the server stays alive this time that is! )
Well I managed to survive yet another Sun Run! I wasn’t even feeling too rough on the Sunday apart from being exhausted and very burnt! No I don’t look like Rudolph btw!
It went surprisingly well this year, I drank plenty of beer but we even managed to help out on the Saturday afternoon for a few hours with the climbing wall. A few hours later we went swimming in Cheltenham and followed this up with a healthy meal of Steak and Mash! It would’ve been nicer warm but someone rang me! Then came a lot more drinking and a bit of dancing I think… At least the younger ones had fun, I think they all managed to pull on the weekend.. it makes you soo proud lol. At least they’ll have something to remember the weekend by, well until the rash goes down that is
All I came back with was a quality sombrero but sadly I have got nowhere to wear it now! So if anyone wants it…
Had Scouts last night and we took them to Marine lake for a spot of sponsored crabbing ( ssh! ) We had a target of 26 crabs to catch in 90 mins. Now is it just me or was that a stupid target? As I’ve been told Marine lake isn’t even the best place in Weston to get crabs anyway… but anyway, sadly they only managed to get about 6! Which means we probably made about £2.45. But its still a pints worth!
I went for a nice walk last night after a couple of cold beers and took some nice photographs. I didn’t realise how peaceful the Nightstone end of town is at night, although I think the company helped a little
Anyway I’ll put some of them online soon when I get a minutes rest!
Yesterday a little someone told me a funny slogan to have on my Tshirt. Those of you that know me know I prefer plain tshirts with some attempt of humour on them as opposed to the usual labels that everyone seems to wear. So I straight away had to get one created with it on. Hopefully it will look alright but I’ll soon find out as it should arrive at work tomorrow afternoon
Just in time for the weekend
Tip of the day: Do not get your car washed in this heat especially when its 38′c with the windows open! I’m still wet now!!
The Coolest Weekend For Older Explorer Scouts, Senior Section Girlguides, Network and Leaders, At The Hottest Event Of The YearSun Run 2005
Which basically translates as a big feck off piss up in a field for two days.
And that’s where I’ll be this weekend!
Expect lots of photos and drunken stories to follow next week.
Today started badly and soon got a hell of a lot worse. London today was hit by a terrorist attack. The transport system was hit at rush hour by multiple explosions which have killed approximately 40 people and injured hundreds more.
My heart goes out to all the people who were affected by this, their families and loved ones.
Well a lot has happened since my last update. I had planned to keep it updated quite regularly but I’ve just been so busy recently! I’ll try harder from now on. At least it will stop you guys from buggin me all the time!
Well my new jobs going well and I think I’m finally getting used to working again, especially after 8 months ‘off’. Although 8.5 hours a day is hard work its been made a lot easier now I’ve managed to get MSN working and someone has been keeping me company.
On a plus side I just got my first pay check and even after tax I’m still smiling!
Most of the last few weekends have been spent in town, usually with a nice cold pint in my hand. Although on some occasions it has been known to find me dribbling somewhere with an empty glass of absinthe… I’d like to tell you what happens after that, but it gets a bit blurry! But it has tended to involve lots of drunk dancing and many long walks home, with the occasional slight detour
Last Thursday I had the pleasure of accompanying a little someone to the Weston College Ball.
It was surprisingly a very nice evening which was helped by everyone I met being friendly and making an effort to talk to me
I managed to buy a new suit for the occasion but the most surprising thing was seeing someone look ‘all gurly’!!! Did I say the dress looked nice btw?
Oh, why is it that people always make dedications to me though, especially very bad ones! Grrrr. Though I hope you three all liked Amarillo! lol.
Luckily that’s it for now as I’ve got a load of work to do. Well until someone fixes their internet access!
