Gnome Blogging…

Well I’ve finaly managed to get gnome-blog to work on my Centos machine at work!

This means I can now blog directly from my desktop without needing to load up the admin web page. Another reason is that typing into a little box that looks like a text documents is a lot less obvious than loading up my funky web page. :)

Anyway, just making sure it works. I’ll post a general update later on. In the mean time, because I know you guys really do care, here’s the technical information to get it working!

Download Gnome-blog from here

rpm -Uvhi gnome-blog-0.8.5.noarch.rpm

Restart Gnome. ( Logout and log back in )

Right click on the Gnome panel…

< Add to Panel >
< Application Launcher >
< Accessories >

And jobs done! :) Enjoy.

Scum!

What a crappy weekend. Went out on Friday and managed to lose / have my mobile stolen. It was a nice SE K700i too. I wasn’t the only one, a girl had here phone taken from her handbag at around the same time. So with no insurance on the phone, I’ve now got to go and buy a new one. Which will cost about £200. :(

If I ever get my hands on the little **** that took it… well he wont be able to have any more thieving offspring or walk by the time I’d finish with him.

I was just checking my phone bill online to see if the scum had made any calls in between the time I lost it and got it blocked, but sadly he only went on WAP for 10 seconds Saturday afternoon. Damit! Not much to give to the police sadly.

While I was checking my bill I noticed that I’ve been charged £38 for premium rate text messages that were sent to me! Now for the past few months I’ve been getting these annoying messages and I’ve just been ignoring them as I thought they were spam. But I’m being charge £1.30 for every fecking one! I called O2 and said I’ve not signed up for anything and want them stopped and refunded but they won’t do bugger all and just told me to send STOP to the numbers! Great customer service that is! No wonder my phone bills have been so high each month!

The ICTIS ( The Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standards of Telephone Information Services ) has a good tool for looking up details of premium rate text and phone numbers. You can search the database here.

The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is a central opt out register whereby individuals can register their wish not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls. It is a legal requirement that companies do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS. You can add your mobile or land line numbers here.

A good source of information on preventing SMS spam can be found at on Grumble Text’s web site here.

Well I hope everything starts to get better soon! I’ve got to stay positive but smashing that mirror last weekend couldn’t have helped!

No one would have believed…

In the last years of the nineteenth century, that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space.

No one could have dreamed that we were being scrutinized as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water.

Few men even considered the possibility of life on other planets.

And yet, across the gulf of space, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely, they drew their plans against us.

I wish they would bloody hurry up, I’m getting bored!

The week that was …

What a strange week that was. I think my whole body has been out of sorts since that trip to Leeds. It’s made me feel really tired, my stomachs been bad for days now, and it feels like I’m a day behind everyone else!

I had a nice meal on Friday. Pasta with bacon, mushrooms and peas in a cream sauce. With just a ‘tiny’ hint of garlic. ;) I was really worried that I wouldn’t like it, as I only really like pasta done with a plain-ish tomato sauce but it really suprised me. Even the cream worked. Thank you ;) Have to try it again sometime. Just got to find out if pasta definately has eggs in or not.

Saturday afternoon was spent at Cadburys Garden Centre looking at the animals and running around the garden plant section! But more importantly looking at the fish :) I really have to get my tank sorted again. I’ve been saying it for years. It’s still in my room with water in lol. I saw a lovely ship wreck there, that was about 60″ wide and would fill up most of my tank, but it looked very authentic and detailed and would look great with some tiny tropical fish swimming around. Shame that it would probably be about £100! Maybe one day :)

Todays been spent mainly in bed as I’ve been quite ill since last night. I think it was the fish in breadcrumbs that did it. I didn’t think at the time it may contain egg but the way I reacted makes me think it did. It just meant I wasn’t in the mood last night. Though the alcohol does numb the pain after a while, it doesn’t help next day. Oh well, it did give me the chance to do a fair bit of work on a new ‘project’ I’m working on. I can’t really say anything about it at the moment, but it should all be up and running in a few months, so stay tuned lol.

That’s it for tonite. I’m too tired to say anything funny but if you need a laugh, those of you that were in Hobbits last nite can just remember how I was dancing!
