Weston Pier Fire In Photos…

Weston super Mare Pier, which opened in 1904 and has recently gone through a number of expensive refurbishments, including a go kart track and it’s first pub, was destroyed today as a fire broke out in the West tower at approximately 7:30 am.

Below are a collection of photos, from a number of sources of the events that took place. Click each image for a full size version.

Later this evening, the owners of the Grand Pier, Kerry and Michelle Michael, have issued a ‘personal’ statement about today’s events…

“I would like to assure all those people I have mentioned as well as any others that may be affected that we will work tirelessly to restore this magnificent structure to its former glory.

“Weston is a tourist town and I am sure the redevelopment of the seafront and surrounding area will continue in earnest and our town and visitors will continue to enjoy its resources for man years to come.”

Hopefully, this redevelopment will be finished a lot quicker than Westons Old Pier and the Tropicana!

Very sad for all us Westonians :’(

It will be sadly missed, all the origional rides and games.
It wont be the same, but we have those amazing memories.

And we will create our new memories when it returns…

RIP Pier of 104 years
